F.A.Q.

What age(s) is the conference geared toward?
-The Summit does not have official age limits but will be geared toward college-aged youth, recent graduates and graduate students, as well as non-students 18-30.  This year we are excited to welcome a limited number of high school aged youth to attend the Summit with a chaperon.  Campus activism for Real Food will be emphasized at SYFAS 2010 but we encourage non-students (young people), high school students, and college-aged youth that are interested in bringing sustainable foods to school campuses and local communities, community gardening, social justice issue, and participating in the greater youth movement for just and sustainable food to apply.

Is my acceptance guaranteed by my registration?

-If you register and pay, you will likely be guaranteed a spot unless the registration website has a note about a certain age group (i.e. high school students) being filled. Geographic diversity is an important goal of SYFAS 2010, therefore if one campus or community is over represented we ask that groups send a delegate from their school/community to attend the Summit and report back to their school/community. In the very unlikely event that we must turn away anyone, the registration fee will be reimbursed.

What's the deal with lodging?

-Youth aged 18+ are provided lodging and meals with registration.  Summit attendees will be sleeping in local churches, conference centers and home stays. We cannot provide housing for High school students under 18 years.  We apologise for this inconvenience but at this time we do not have the capacity to take legal responsibility for under-aged youth.

What should I bring?
-Please bring a sleeping bag, sleeping pad, pillow, towel, all personal bathroom supplies, musical instrument, notebook and pen, and enthusiasm.

DO NOT BRING: Any alcohol, illegal drugs, or weapons.  Persons found with these objects will have to leave the Summit immediately without reimbursement.
